Have you decided to learn Italian but don’t know where to start?
There are so many resources available online that you can end up getting confused. So I’ve decided to help you out with this article about the 5 best apps for learning Italian.

You probably won’t have heard of all of these before.

FLASHCARD ON BRAINSCAPE

On www.brainscape.com you can learn through space repetitions by creating your own set of cards or by using one of the sets that are already available on the website.

You can choose between the free version and the premium one.

My students are very happy with this app: it is intuitive and easy to use. There are also a lot of interesting articles about language learning on their website.

LANGUAGE TRANSFER

https://www.languagetransfer.org/ is one of my favorite apps, useful for students with a high level of English.

The method used in this app is to show you the connections between English and Italian allowing you to form words from the very beginning.
Using the common roots between languages they help you discover how words are formed and the patterns they follow, so you can better understand how Italian works.
You will probably find that you already know many words of a language even if you have never studied it!

The app is completely free.
It’s also really useful for learning Italian pronouns.

YOUGLISH

I love this website! https://it.youglish.com/
It might be the best app for learning Italian!

You don’t know how to use a word or a verb?
Just go on https://it.youglish.com/italianan and type in the search box the expression you want to know more about.

This tool will find all the Italian videos on You Tube in which that expression appears.
It’s super useful for learning words in context, practicing your pronunciation and also finding interesting videos.
Many times I’ve searched for a word and then ended up watching the entire video!

LYRICS TRAINING

Do you like to sing?
If so this is the app you are looking for!
https://lyricstraining.com/
With Lyrics App you can learn Italian through
the lyrics of songs.

It works like a game: you select your level of difficulty then you listen to a song and fill in the blanks with the word that you hear.
I’ve found it works better on mobile phones than computers.

The best thing is it’s completely free.
Here are some of the good Italian singers you can find on the app: Jovanotti , Tiziano Ferro (search for the song “Incanto” it’s so romantic!), Fedez, Elisa ( my favorite songs are : “Eppure sentire”, “Qualcosa che non c’è”, “Ti vorrei sollevare”), Malika Ajane, Gianna Nannini and Giorgia.

CONJUGEMOS

If you have any problems with conjugating Italian verbs, this is the app for you.

On https://conjuguemos.com/ you will find various exercises and games (Battleships, Connect Four, Crosswords, Memory games and many others) to practice and become a verb wizard! This could also be useful if you’re learning Italian with your kids.

It’s free, you just need to create an account and start playing.

I hope you find these apps useful! Let me know which one you like the most.
